How to Add a New Product

Your product catalog is the core of your store. Follow the steps below to learn how to add products to your store.

  1. Open the Site Admin > Store Manager > Products section.
  2. Click on the New Product button in the upper right corner.

  3. Add the DetailsProduct Name, Description, and Classification. SiteGround Ecommerce suggests a classification for your product. If it matches, simply click the tick sign or select another group for your product from the dropdown menu.

    NOTE: In the Classification dropdown menu, you can select the group your product falls into from standard classes for taxes, indexing and ads.

  4. Scroll down and click on the “+ Add” sign to add your Product images.

  5. Scrolling down further, you can specify the type of product you are selling — Physical, Downloadable, or Service (N0n-Digital).

  6. If your product doesn’t have any variable attributes, select No variations next to the type of product.

    NOTE: Product variations refer to different versions of a product that vary by specific attributes such as size, color, or style. In case your product does have variations – choose Yes from the respective dropdown menu and follow the steps in our guide on How to Add Attributes to Create Different Product Variations.

  7. Once you’ve added the attributes for your product, scroll down to set Pricing & Inventory.

  8. Click Save in the upper right corner to save the product in your store.

  9. A pop-up will appear where you can choose whether to Save and Publish the product on your store or keep it as a draft.

    NOTE: You can Save as draft your product if you are not ready to make it live just yet and publish it later on. In case, you have added all the necessary information and you are ready to release your product & make it publicly visible – choose Save and Publish.

And there you have it! Your first product is live and ready to sell with SiteGround Ecommerce.

NOTE! If you haven’t added products to your store yet, you can create a new product from the Get Started wizard that will appear once you log in to your dashboard. Click on the Add button next to Add Products.
