How to Manage Product Listing - Filtering, Sorting and Searching

Using filters for product listing makes your inventory management faster and more efficient. With SiteGround Ecommerce, you can leverage several filters for comprehensive filtering and sorting.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to employ filtering and sorting for your products.

How to Filter the Product Listing

  1. Navigate to Site Admin > Store Management > Products.

  2. Use the filters at the top of the list to view only the products matching the filters’ criteria. You can use a single filter or combine several to customize the product filtering.

Below, we’ll examine each filter type.

Status

By using this filter, you can list only products matching the selected status. The options are:

  • Any – Displays all products, both in live and draft status.
  • Draft – Lists only unpublished products that are in draft status.
  • Live – Displays only published products in live status.

Stock

This filter lets you list products based on their availability. The available options are:

  • All – Displays both products in and out of stock.
  • In stock – Shows only in-stock products.
  • Out of stock – Lists only products that are out of stock.

Type

By using this filter, you can list items depending on their product type. You can choose from:

  • All – Displays all products regardless of their product type.
  • Physical – Lists only physical products such as shoes, clothes, etc.
  • Virtual – Shows only virtual products such as expert services, online courses, reservations, etc.
  • Downloadable – Displays only digital downloadable products such as audio files, video files, e-books, etc.

Brand

This filter drop-down menu lists all existing brands you created in your store. You can use it to display products from the selected brand. The options are:

  • All – Displays all products from all brands.
  • Selected brand – Shows only products from the brand you’ve selected in the filter menu.

Category

This filter lists all categories in your store. By using it, you can filter products only from the selected category. The available options are:

  • All – lists all products from all existing categories.
  • Selected category – displays all products from the category you’ve selected.

While choosing any of the above options, the filter will be automatically applied to all products. If you want to clear all filters, you can press the Reset button.

NOTE! You can use several filters simultaneously for more specific filtering that shows products matching all filters’ criteria.

How to Sort the Product Listings

Apart from filtering, you can sort the products in order based on the following attributes:

  • Product – sorts the product names in alphabetical order..
  • Price – sorts the products by their price.

Next to these two attribute columns, there is a sort () icon. To sort the listing, click on it to switch between unsorted (⇅), ascending (↑), or descending (↓) order.

How to Search the Product Listing

You can also search for specific products by their names. Type a keyword in the Search field to display products that contain it in their names.
