I get an error when I try to install modules in my Drupal.

Last update: Aug 29, 2025

If you receive an error message like the one provided below while trying to install a module to your Drupal, there is a simple solution for it:

The specified file temporary://filename could not be copied, because the destination directory is not properly configured. This may be caused by a problem with file or directory permissions. More information is available in the system log.

The issue is caused by an incorrect setting of your temporary directory, which is being set during the installation process.

You can fix this issue by going to Configuration > Media > File System and change the Temporary directory value from /tmp to tmp.

After this, you will be able to perform the installation of your module.
